The severe weather in January prevented a continuation of the winter planting schedule.Slightly milder conditions in February have allowed this to recommence with the building of cages and the completion of the suvey of exisitng trees planted by the group. This survey found that a small number of trees needed replacing and sadly that one tree, which is in a prominent position on the village green, appeared to have been deliberately damaged. The group will coppice the tree and observe its progress

Welcome to Trees for Cotherstone
The group was formed in October 2003 to initiate and undertake environmental projects, including the planting of trees, and to maintain the landscape and promote an interest in environmental issues among the residents of Cotherstone village. A steering committee meets formally three times per year to plan future work, while the group meets informally on a regular basis throughout the year to carry out preparatory work, the planting and maintenance of tree saplings, and to hold social events to promote the work of the group and encourage new members. All of our activities are freely open to everyone with an interest in tree conservation, and we would welcome your involvement in any aspect of our work. If you would like to join the group, please call Peter Ditchburn 01833 650186 or Anne Webb 01833 650772 |
